Cats run well at area
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat track team took second place at the 9-3A/10-3A area meet last week in Ponder while the Bearcats were third in the boys team standings.
The Lady Cats totaled 93 points and finished just one point behind champion Ponder.
Izzy Gabbert won the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.75 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Shelby Riddle, Hannah Gaither, Aubrey Beam and Karina Riddle won with a time of 4:06.31.
The 400 relay of Shelby Riddle, Gabbert, La’Ney Powell and Brylee Weddle was the runner-up in 50.38 seconds.
Gabbert was the runner-up in the high jump at five feet.
Beam was fourth on a tie-breaker at four feet, 10 inches.
Beam was second in the 800 with a time of 2:30.74.
Paisley Blevins took third in 2:32.19.
Weddle was the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 1:00.09.
Blevins was sixth in 1:04.51.
Gabbert also took third in the triple jump at 33 feet, five and three quarter inches.
Avery Howerton finished fourth in the long jump at 15 feet, 10 inches.
Shelby Riddle was fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.87 seconds.
On the boys side, Whitesboro tallied 76 points.
Zander Brannan won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet, six inches.
Jack Hinsley was the runner-up in the high jump.
Wyatt Winchester was the runner-up in the 300 hurdles in 41.62 seconds.
Jack Hinsley placed third in 42.07 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Colt Fagan, Cameron Howard, Max Hinsley and Winchester took third in 3:30.68.
Max Hinsley placed third in the 400 with a time of 53.10 seconds.
Howard finished fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 10 inches.
Jack Hinsley was sixth at 19 feet, nine and a quarter inches.
The 800 relay of Fagan, Howard, Jack Hinsley and Aidan Brinlee was fourth in 1:32.67.
Ayden Lasalle was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet.
The 400 relay of Max Hinsley, Howard, Rhet Rudzinski and Fagan was sixth in 44.90 seconds.
Brinlee was sixth in the 200 with a time of 23.29 seconds.
The top four finishers advanced to the Class 3A Region II meet at Whitehouse on April 18-19.
Dogs, Pirates advance past Area
The Tioga Bulldogs captured the 13-2A/14-2A area title last week on their home track.
Collinsville also had regional qualifiers.
Tioga totaled 131 points to finish first.
Collinsville was fourth with 66 points.
Tioga’s Sam Mott won the 100 with a time of 10.61 seconds.
Jake David was sixth in 11.21 seconds.
Austin Norwood won the 200 in 22.33 seconds.
Justin Arrington finished fourth in 23.01 seconds.
Mott also won the 400 with a time of 49.75 seconds.
Kyson Kirkland was fifth in 53.24 seconds.
Collinsville’s Isaiah Smith won the 800 with a time of 2:03.61.
Kirkland was third in 2:04.44.
Tioga’s Garrison Black won the 1,600 in 4:48.16.
Smith was the runner-up in 4:50.79.
Collinsville’s Fernando Perez took third in 4:52.58.
Perez also won the 3,200 with a time of 10:48.80.
Tioga’s Alexis Santoyo-Pina was fourth in 10:49.24.
Black was fifth in 10:49.67.
Raul Chavez was seventh in 43.92 seconds.
The Tioga 400 relay of Greeley McAden, David, Quesyn Arrington and Norwood won with a time of 42.81 seconds.
The Collinsville team of Paxton Davidson, Chad Davidson, Jaxon Jenkins and Peyton Davidson was seventh in 45.13 seconds.
Tioga’s Justin Arrington, Norwood, Quesyn Arrington and McAden won the 800 relay with a time of 1:27.91.
Collinsville’s Paxton Davidson, Peyton Davidson, Jenkins and Chase Sheppard were seventh in 1:37.68.
The Tioga relay of Quesyn Arrington, David, McAden and Justin Arrington won in 3:20.93.
Collinsville’s Nick Cox was the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 147 feet, two inches.
Russell Carney was third at 143 feet, two inches.
Carney also won the shot put with a throw of 52 feet, 10.25.
Cox was second at 47 feet, 11.25.
Tioga’s Cason Serna was fourth at 42 feet, nine and a half inches.

On the girls side, Tioga tied Muenster for fifth with 42 points.
Collinsville was ninth with 32 points.
Tioga’s Kyndall Whitley won the 100 with a time of 12.17 seconds.
Whitley also won the 200 with a time of 26.53 seconds.
Bella Dennis was fifth in 1:03.10.
Collinsville’s Kim Perez was seventh in the 3200 with 15:02.34.
Reese Patterson was third in the 100 hurdles in 16.87 seconds.
Collinsville’s Paige Davidson, Zoey Kays, Ashleigh Ortowski and Jaydee Matlock were sixth in the 400 meter relay with 1:53.29.
The Collinsville 1,600 relay of Reese Patterson, Kays, Matlock and Ortowski was third in 4:17.03.
Whitley also finished fifth in the long jump at 15 feet, seven inches.
Whitley finished fourth in the triple jump at 33 feet, eight and a half inches.
Tioga’s Lindsey Byler took third in the discus with a throw of 111 feet, three inches.
Byler was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, two inches.
Collinsville’s Rilee Stewart was fourth at 33 feet, five and three quarter inches.
The top four finishers advanced to the Class 2A Region II meet at Springtown on April 18-19.
Bearcats lose to Wildcats
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team came up short with a 6-1 final last week at Callisburg.
Dax Martin went 2-for-3 and scored once.
Ayce Nelson singled and drove in a run.
Troy Randall singled and walked.
The loss took Whitesboro to 7-11 on the year and 4-3 in district.
Pirates pound Dodd City
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team run ruled Dodd City 23-0 in two innings last week on the road.
Peyton Davidson went 4-for-4 with two doubles, five RBIs and scored four runs.
Jaxon Jenkins went 3-for-3 with a double, walked, drove in four, scored three runs.
On the mound, he also combined with Caysen Schafer on a no-hitter.
Jaxon Spivey went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and scored twice.
Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Noe Cantu doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored three times.
Garrett Trevino singled, drove in three and scored once.
Cash Morgan doubled, drove in two and scored.
Brandon Cantu walked, drove in a run and scored three runs.
The win took Collinsville to 16-3 on the year and 11-0 in district.
They also secured a playoff spot.
Tioga tamed by Honey Grove
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team fell to Honey Grove 10-4 last week at home.
Austin Norwood went 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Gage Anderson tripled, walked and scored twice.
Johnny Dorpinghaus singled, walked twice and drove in a run.
Landon Bingham walked twice and drove in a run.
Hayden Roberts walked and scored once.
The loss took Tioga to 7-11 on the year and 2-9 in district play.
Lady Pirates blank Dodd City
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team topped Dodd City Tuesday, April 8 on the road with a 3-0 final.
Reece Elvington threw a three-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks.
Jaydee Matlock went 2-for-3 and walked.
Bailey Miller singled, walked and drove in a run.
Rilee Stewart singled and scored.
Zoey Kays singled and drove in a run.
Kim Perez walked twice and scored once.
The win took Collinsville to 5-15 on the year and 4-8 in district play.
Lady Bulldogs lose to Honey Grove
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team ended their nine-game win streak with a 17-10 loss to Honey Grove last week at home.
Kyndall Whitley went 2-for-2, walked twice, drove in four and scored four times.
Abbie Benke went 2-for-3, walked and drove in two runs.
Bella Dennis went 2-for-4 and score twice.
Kenzee Powers doubled, walked and scored three times.
Kennedy Slay singled, drove in a run and scored once.
The loss took Tioga to 15-8 on the year and 10-3 in district play.
