Mental health awareness is coming to Collinsville on May 10 with Mental Drive’s “Drift and Dine” fundraising event.
Mental Drive is a local nonprofit with a shared passion for cars and a deep-rooted compassion for those facing mental health challenges. The organization’s first multi-event fundraiser will have a variety of activities that are sure to entice the public.
Drifting will take place at the Collinsville ISD football field parking lot. (This is a driving technique where the driver purposely oversteers, with loss of traction, while maintaining control and driving the car through the entirety of a corner or a turn.) With the help of Urban Racing, anyone who has ever dreamed of riding in a drift car can pay to ride for a thrill.
Vendors associated with mental health will have booths set up around the high school track and field house.
Just across the road at Collinsville First Baptist Church, the Crossed Out Society will host a car show unlike any other in North Texas.
Don’t miss the motorcycle stunts put on by Stunt Toons and his crew.
The event will end with a dinner and auction at First Baptist Church at 877 E. Woodland Street in Collinsville.
A golf cart will shuttle folks around the event.
All funds raised at this event will help Mental Drive to directly purchase necessities and resources that can make a real difference in elevating mental well-being. Whether it’s funding therapy sessions, covering medical expenses or providing other essential support, Mental Drive’s goal is to offer a helping hand in a way that truly benefits individuals’ mental health journey.
