STOLEN DOG FINDS HE WAY HOME...WITH HELP
Even a blind dog can find its way home if someone cares enough to help.
“Henry,” a 15-year-old canine belonging to the Vaughn family of Whitesboro, was safely returned to her home last week due to the assistance of kind strangers.
The miniature two-pound Yorkie was stolen March 23 from the edge of her own driveway.
The suspects in the dognapping, thought to be a pair of female juveniles, dumped the animal on the roadside at Aloha Gardens after discovering she was disabled.
Twelve-year-old Billy Vaughn located a photo of the pet, sketching its likeness on a notice that was subsequently posted at local businesses. The family agreed a $100 reward offer might prompt citizen assistance.
Vicki Rawle noticed the tiny creature as it walked amidst Big Mineral Camp. She contacted a friend from Denton, Nell Gandy, who took the pet in.
Later, while in Whitesboro, Rawle saw the flyer and contacted the Vaughn family. Gandy wanted the dog reunited with her family.
“Getting her back was a joyous occasion,” Gary Vaughn said. “We put out so many prayers for her return, and this was just a good ending, a real blessing.”
