The Collinsville Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated another successful year of service with its annual Membership Banquet and Meeting Saturday, March 22 at Ranch 82 in Whitesboro.

The event was themed “Vegas, Texas Style” and featured gaming tables (for entertainment only) and live music.

“We have hosted the casino nights for several years now and folks seem to enjoy them quite a lot,” Chamber president Marva Worsham said.

Before dinner and games, the Chamber hosted their annual business meeting whereby a quorum of Chamber members voted unanimously to amend the organization’s bylaws.

“Currently, we are bound by our bylines to host an annual meeting of the entire membership by the end of February each year,” Worsham said. “We missed that deadline this year and this takes care of that. We asked our members’ forgiveness for pushing the banquet to March and permission to extend our annual deadline to the end of March going forward. January and February are just so busy for folks. The extra month will give us some breathing room. We appreciate their understanding.”

A total of 21 Chamber members voted unanimously to approve the change.

Chamber public relations chairman Austin Lewter also announced the launch of a regular Chamber newsletter that will hit members’ email inboxes soon.

After the meeting, the crowd of more than 100 enjoyed a BBQ dinner catered by Ranch 82, live music from local musician Freddy Lee Spears and a lively time playing blackjack and craps.
At the end of the night, the three top chip winners won cash prizes. This year’s winners include Scott Bailey, Johnny Lee Godsey and Dave Hoak with Godsey taking top honors.
The annual silent auction raised $1,300 for the Chamber scholarship fund.

Donations to the silent auction were provided by Skreen Door, State Farm - Jim Goldsworthy, Farmer’s Insurance - Ashley Schoonover, Whitesboro News-Record, Austin and Jennifer Lewter, 4U Credit Union, Ritchey Real Estate Group, The Play House, Gigi Cox, InnoGravers, Barnz Charmz Designs, Cloud 29, Hound Town Grooming Spaw, Pirate Island and Collinsville United Methodist Church.
