Rams lose to Bells
The S&S Ram baseball team fell to Bells 20-1 Thursday at home. 

Zade Zellers singled and scored once. Brightin McNabb doubled. Major Milam singled. 

The loss took S&S to 4-5 on the year and 0-2 in district play. They hosted Pottsboro on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Tioga toppled by Sam Rayburn
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team lost to Sam Rayburn Thursday night at home with a 9-1 final. 

Austin Norwood singled and scored once. Landon Bingham singled and walked. Johnny Dorpinghaus and Hayden Roberts singled. Luke Sheppard and Javi Hernandez walked.

The loss took Tioga to 5-6 on the year and 0-4 in district play. They traveled to Dodd City on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.

Ortowski, Matlock get all-region honors
A pair of Collinsville Lady Pirate basketball players were recently recognized by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches with all-region honors for the 2024-25 season.

Junior Ashleigh Ortowski and sophomore Jaydee Matlock were picked for the 2A Region II team after leading the Lady Pirates to the region semifinals.

Tioga ladies top Whitewright
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team topped Whitewright 7-3 on March 11 on the road in district action. 

Abbie Benke went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Kyndall Whitley went 2-for-3, walked and scored twice. Bella Dennis homered. Kennedy Slay doubled, walked and scored twice.
Kaylee Evans singled and drove in a run.

The win took Tioga to 9-7 on the year and 4-2 in district play. They traveled to Dodd City on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Pirates slide to Sam Rayburn
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team fell to Sam Rayburn on the road last week with a 12-10 final. 

Rilee Stewart went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs and scored once. Hailey Germany went 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored twice. Jaydee Matlock went 2-for-4, walked, drove in two and scored once. Sophia Woody went 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice. Tessa Vannoy singled and drove in two runs. Zoey Kays singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Reece Elvington doubled and drove in a run. Charlie Spratt walked twice and scored twice.

The loss took Collinsville to 2-12 on the year and  1-5 in district play. They played at Whitewright on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.

Bearcats beat Ponder
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team opened district play Tuesday, March 11 with a 5-1 win over Ponder at home. 

Tracy Brees and Brayden Bomar combined on a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks. Jacob Knight went 3-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Rhet Rudzinski singled and drove in a run. Brees and Troy Randall each walked twice and scored once. Bomar also walked and scored once.

The win took Whitesboro to 4-7 on the year and 1-0 in district.

Pirates shutout Sam Rayburn
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team picked up an 11-0 district win last week over Sam Rayburn on the road.

Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and scored twice. Cash Morgan went 3-for-4 and scored once. Garrett Trevino and Caysen Schafer combined on a three-hitter. Schafer also singled, drove in a run and scored three times. Trevino walked once and drove in two runs. Jaxon Jenkins singled, walked and scored once.  Noe Cantu singled and drove in a run. Jaxon Spivey singled and scored once. 

The win took Collinsville to 8-3 on the year and 3-0 in district play. They hosted Honey Grove on Friday.

Rams routed by Bells
The S&S Ram baseball team opened district on Tuesday, March 11 with a 16-0 road loss to Bells. 

Brody Colwell singled and walked once. Brightin McNabb, Nik Roseberry, Bryan Flores and Major Milam all singled.

The loss took S&S to 4-4 on the year. They looked to bounce back against Bells at home on Friday.

Tioga clipped by Whitewright
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team fell to Whitewright last week with an 8-7 final on the road. 

Austin Norwood went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice. Gage Anderson doubled, drove in two and scored once. Johnny Dorpinghaus singled and drove in two tuns. Landon Bingham walked twice and scored once. Julian Hernandez singled and scored once. 

The loss took Tioga to 5-5 on the year and 0-3 in district. They hosted Sam Rayburn on Friday.

Lady Rams unbeaten, top Bells in district play
The S&S Lady Ram softball team picked a huge 10-0 win Tuesday, March 11 at home in district play over Bells. 

Hayden Mowrey threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and a walk. She also went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored twice.

Lily Nunn went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and scored once. Lana Walters went 3-for-3 with two doubles, walked and scored twice. Izzy Talamantes tripled, drove in a run and scored once. Hannah Foster had a two-run single and scored twice.

The win leaves S&S unbeaten on the year and it was Bells’ first district loss. S&S hosted Blue Ridge on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Cats run-rule VV
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team kicked off spring break last week with a 12-5 district win over Valley View in five innings on the road. 

Avery Howerton went 3-for-4, drove in three and scored three times. She also allowed a hit with six strikeouts and no walks in three scoreless innings.

Makayla Wolf went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. La’Ney Powell went 2-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored once. Tylar Olsen went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. Jenna Cole singled, walked twice and drove in a run. Cam Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice. Breighlin Rupert doubled, drove in two and scored once. Emma Parish doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Jentry Patterson walked and scored twice.

The win took Whitesboro to 9-7 on the year and 2-1 in district play. They hosted Ponder on Friday.

Lady Pirates fall to Honey Grove
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team came up short to Honey Grove last week with a 14-4 final in Bells. 

Jaydee Matlock went 3-for-3 and scored once. Tessa Vannoy singled, walked, drove in two and scored once. Hailey Germany singled and scored once. Reece Elvington singled and drove in a run. Rilee Stewart doubled.

The loss took Collinsville to 2-11 on the year and 1-4 in district play. They played Sam Rayburn on Tuesday.

Lady Bulldogs slam Sam Rayburn
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team toppled Sam Rayburn 12-4 Monday, March 10 at home. 

Kenzie Powers went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and scored three times. Kyndall Whitley went 3-for-3 with a home run, walked, drove in two and scored four runs. Bella Dennis went 3-for-4, walked and scored three runs. Aly Salinas went 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Abbie Benke doubled, walked and drove in three. Kennedy Slay singled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.

The win took Tioga to 7-7 on the year and 3-2 in district. They played at Whitewright on Tuesday.

Bulldogs take first at VV meet, Pirates in the hunt
The Tioga Bulldog boys’ track team won their second straight meet to open the season by taking top mars at Valley View’s Rusty Glascock Invitational last week.

Tioga earned 189 points. Collinsville finished sixth with 47 points.

Tioga took the top three spots in the 100 dash as Sam Mott won in 11.54 seconds. Jake David was the runner-up in 11.84 seconds. Hayden Roberts placed third in 12.04 seconds.
Austin Norwood won the 200 dash in 22.54 seconds. Justin Arrington took second in 22.94 seconds. Adam Mott was fourth in 24.24 seconds. Kyson Kirkland won the 400 with a time of 54.74 seconds. Roberts was the runner-up in 55.74 seconds. Jaxson Hurst was fourth in 55.94 seconds. Kirkland also was third in the 800 with a time of 2:08.50.

The 800-relay team of Justin Arrington, Norwood, Quesyn Arrington and Greeley McAden won with a time of 1:31.3. The 1,600-relay of Quesyn Arrington, David, McAden and Justin Arrington won in 3:25.7. Raul Chavez won the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.14 seconds and was the runner-up in the 110 hurdles in 19.24 seconds. Jaxton Dejernett was third in the 110 hurdles in 19.94 seconds. Kallin Henderson was third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.74 seconds. Chavez also was the runner-up in the triple jump at 38 feet, five inches. Garrison Black was second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:48.60 and fourth in the 1,600 in 4:50.  Alexis Santoyo-Pina was third in the 3,200 in 11:42.6.

Cason Serna was third in the shot put at 40 feet, four inches. Jesus Molina was fourth with a throw of 40 feet and a half-inch. Hurst was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, six inches. David was fifth at 18 feet, five inches. Collinsville’s Russell Carney won the shot put with a toss of 49 feet, two inches. He was the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 137 feet, six inches. Cooper McMillian was the runner-up in the shot put at 40 feet, four inches. 

Nick Cox was third in the discus at 136 feet and McMillian was fifth at 111 feet, seven inches. Chase Sheppard took fourth in the 100 in 12.24 seconds and fifth in the 200 in 25.04 seconds. Isaiah Smith was fourth in the 800 at 2:09 and fifth in the high jump.

On the girls’ side, Collinsville took fourth with 63 points. Tioga was right behind in fifth with 61. 

Collinsville’s Kim Perez won the 3,200 with a time of 14:48. Reese Patterson was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles in 17.94 seconds and in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.44 seconds

The 400 relay of Zoey Kays, Jaydee Matlock, Paige Davidson and Ashleigh Ortowski placed third in 54.5 seconds. That same combo also took third in the 1,600 relay in 4:32.4.

Rilee Stewart was third in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, eight inches. Matlock also finished fourth in the high jump at four feet, eight inches. Kays also was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:11.64. 

Kyndall Whitley led Tioga with a win in the 100 with a time of 12.94 seconds and in the 200 at 27.04 seconds to go with third in the long jump at 15 feet and a fourth in the triple jump at 31 feet, one and a half inches. Lindsey Byler was the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 101 feet, seven inches and the shot put at 35 feet, two and a half inches. Bella Dennis was fourth in the 100 in 13.94 seconds and in the 200 in 28.34 seconds and fifth in the triple jump at 30 feet, four inches. Mackenzie Rodriguez finished fifth in the 1,600 in 7:11.68.

Local lifters compete at regionals
Local powerlifters fared well at their respective regional meets last week.

Division III Region 6 was held in Decatur where Whitesboro was 20th with three points, and S&S placed 22nd with two points.

The Division III state meet is on March 21 at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene.

Whitesboro’s Austin Freeman was third at Super Heavyweight with a total of 1,310 pounds.

S&S’ Elisha Gentry was fourth at 123 pounds with a total of 855 pounds while Brandon Petty was seventh with 765 pounds and Brek Hammet was 10th with 715 pounds.

The Division IV Region 6 meet was also in Decatur where Collinsville was 23rd with four points. Lindsay won the team title with 24 points. Collinsville’s Travis Emshoff and Austin Caldwell earned fourth-place finishes. Emshoff was fourth at 114 pounds with a total of 730 pounds. Caldwell was fourth at 132 pounds with a total of 875 pounds.

Area hoopsters make all-district teams
Local boys basketball teams recently received all-district honors. The all-district 10-3A boys basketball team was selected by the district coaches.

Local designees include: 
Co-Offensive Player of the Year – Max Hinsley, Sr., Whitesboro.
Co-Defensive Player of the Year – Dax Martin, Sr., Whitesboro.
Co-Sixth Man of the Year – Blake Durham, Soph., Ponder; Bryce Chipman, Jr., Paradise.
Co-Newcomer of the Year –Jacob Splawn, Sr., Callisburg.
First Team
Jacob Knight, Sr., Whitesboro; Jack Hinsley, Soph., Whitesboro; Caden Whittington, Jr., Callisburg. 
Second Team
Brayden Bomar, Jr., Whitesboro; Gabe Zinski, Jr., Callisburg; Logan Grisham, Jr., Callisburg.
