Last weekend, the Whitesboro High School (WHS) UIL Academics Science Team took 3rd place at the state Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) meet in San Antonio.

In addition to the success of the Science Team (consisting of freshman Emma Winter, sophomore Jeremy Krause, senior Bryce Thompson and senior Luke McAdoo), individual members earned several recognitions as well.

Winter was 8th in Number Sense, 10th in Calculator, 8th in Math and 2nd in Science.

Junior Kaylee Niles placed 12th in Number Sense, 14th in Calculator, 11th in Math and 10th in Science.

Thompson earned 11th in Number Sense, 8th in Calculator, 5th in Math and 4th in Science.

McAdoo was 5th in Number Sense, 5th in Calculator, 6th in Math and 8th in Science.

Krause was 5th in Number Sense, 5th in Calculator, 2nd in Math and 2nd in Science.

He also received the “Top Gun” award. This honor is presented to the student who earns the most points across all contests.

TMSCA gives out Top Gun scholarships to the six highest finishers. In the Top Gun scoring, McAdoo was 3rd and Thompson was 5th. Both WHS seniors received scholarships this past weekend.

These successes are a culmination of years of competing in math and science UIL contests. Congratulations to these dedicated Bearcats for their hard-earned accomplishments.
