Last week, a trial lasting two days ended with a guilty verdict for a Whitesboro man.

Thirty-four-year-old Scott Lamonica was found to be actively searching and downloading child pornography from various websites since 2022.

Evidence for this criminal case goes back to 2023, when the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip in 2023 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Authorities were able to get a search warrant in January 2024 and seized Lamonica’s iPad, which held over a year’s worth of videos (totaling more than 800) sexual videos of children. Lamonica admitted to his crimes.

“The evidence in this case was overwhelming and disgusting,” said Grayson County Criminal District Attorney, John Kermit Hill.

After only 10 minutes of deliberation, a unanimous jury found Lamonica guilty on seven counts of child pornography and two counts of stalking a woman. Judge Larry Phillips sentenced Lamonica to 35 years in a state correctional facility.

“As we continue to put more and more of these criminals behind bars, and particularly send them off to the state correctional facilities, it is making our streets safer,” said Hill.
