Lady Cats pounce Callisburg
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team shutdown Callisburg 15-0 in three innings on Friday at home.
Cam Ortiz went 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and scored twice. Avery Howerton threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks. She also went 2-for-2, walked, drove in a run and scored three times.
Bradi Gallaway went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run, walked twice, drove in three and scored twice. Reagan Downs went 2-for-2, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Emma Parish walked and scored twice. Jentry Patterson walked, drove in a run and scored once.
The win took Whitesboro to 8-7 on the year and 1-1 in district.
Lady Rams shutout Pottsboro
The S&S Lady Ram softball team took care of Pottsboro 13-0 Friday in five innings at home in district play.
Hayden Mowrey went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run, three RBIs and scored three times. She also threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
Lana Walters went 3-for-3 with a triple, walked, drove in a run and scored three times. Lily Nunn went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Hayden Kight went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. Tynslie Adcock went 2-for-3 and drove in a run. Hannah Foster singled, walked twice and scored four times.
Tioga tops Tom Bean
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team clipped Tom Bean 15-12 Friday at home in district play.
Kyndall Whitley went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, walked, drove in four and scored twice. Kenzie Powers went 4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs and scored twice. Kennedy Slay went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and scored three times. Bella Dennis went 2-for-4 with a double, walked, and scored three times. Kaylee Evans went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and scored twice. Addie Snuggs doubled and scored once. Emerson Moore singled and walked twice.
The win took Tioga to 6-7, on the year and 2-2 in district.
Lady Pirates lose to Trenton
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team fell to Trenton 23-2 in three innings last Friday at home.
Tessa Vannoy singled and scored once. Reece Elvington singled and walked once. Zoey Kays and Bailey Miller each walked and drove in a run. Hailey Germany walked and scored once.
The loss took Collinsville to 2-10 on the year and 1-3 in district play. They hosted Honey Grove on Monday.
Cats up and down Friday in home tourney
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team beat Blue Ridge in day two of the Whitesboro-Madill Tournament Friday with a 5-1 final.
Jacob Knight and Korbin Ross combined to allow a run on seven hits with nine strikeouts and five walks. Tracy Brees singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Brayden Bomar and Dax Martin each singled, walked and scored once. Ross and Troy Randall each singled and scored once. Ayce Nelson singled and drove in a run.
The win took Whitesboro to 3-7 on the year.
They also had an 18-0 loss in five innings against Sulphur earlier in the day Friday.
Bomar singled and walked. Knight and Martin singled.
Whitesboro continued tourney action on Saturday.
Pirates tame Trenton
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team landed a big 11-1 district win Friday in five innings over Trenton at home.
Peyton Davidson and Jaxon Jenkins combined on a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and four walks. Jenkins also singled and scored twice. Caysen Schafer went 2-for-3 and scored three times. Jaxon Spivey went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored once. Garrett Trevino singled, drove in two runs and scored once. Paxton Davidson walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
The win took Collinsville to 7-3 on the year and 2-0 in district.
Bulldogs lose to Tom Bean
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team came up short, 17-5 against Tom Bean Friday at home in district play.
Austin Norwood went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and scored once. Landon Bingham doubled, drove in two and scored once. Gage Anderson doubled and scored once. Johnny Dorpinghaus singled and drove in a run.
The win took Tioga to 5-4 on the year and 0-2 in district.
They played at Whitewright on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Rams clip Chico
The S&S Ram baseball team topped Chico 13-5 Friday in the Nocona Tournament.
Eli Nortman went 4-for-4 and scored twice. Nik Roseberry went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and scored once. Major Milam went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and scored twice.
Brightin McNabb went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice. Mason Cooksey went 2-for-2, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Joe Orr walked twice and scored twice. Brody Colwell singled and drove in a run.
The win took S&S to 4-3 on the year.
They also had an 11-3 loss in five innings against Nocona.
Cats run strong at VA
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat track team placed third last week with 108 points in the Van Alstyne Relays. The Bearcats faired well in the individual finishes.
Whitesboro’s Shelby Riddle was in the 200 meter dash third in 28.71 seconds. Whitesboro’s Brylee Weddle won the 400 in 1:02.56 while teammate Ashlynn Warren finished fourth in 1:06.23 and Paisley Blevins was fifth in 1:06.46. Whitesboro’s Aubrey Beam was the runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:34.45 and also took second in the 1,600 in 5:53.70. Blevins was fourth in the 800 in 2:39.05. Whitesboro’s Jasmin Hernandez was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 14:18.62. Izzy Gabbert was the runner-up in the 300 meter hurdle with 50.41 seconds.
Whitesboro’s 800 relay of Jenna Cole, Caitlyn Wolf, Ashlynn Warren and Riddle was fifth in 1:56.39.
The 1,600 relay of Blevins, Beam, Gabbert and Weddle was third in 4:14.97.
Gabbert won the high jump by clearing five feet while Ellis was the runner-up at four feet, 10 inches. Henderson and Beam were part of a three-way tie for third place at four feet, six inches. Ellis was third in the long jump at 15 feet, four and a half inches. Avery Howerton was fourth in the long jump at 15 feet, three inches and Allison was fifth at 15 feet, one and a half inches. Gabbert was third in the triple jump at 32 feet, six and a half inches and Beam was fifth at 30 feet.
In boys’ competition, Whitesboro placed sixth as a team with 48 points.
Zander Brannan was third in the 1,600 in 5:08.82. Whitesboro’s Jesus Hernandez Cortez finished fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:41.84. Jack Hinsley was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.99 seconds and third in the 300 hurdles in 44.68 seconds. Elijah Hines was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, nine and a half inches while teammate Aiden LaSalle was fifth at 39 feet, one and a half inches. LaSalle was third in the discus with a throw of 106 feet, seven inches and teammate Micah Velten was fifth at 100 feet, three inches.
Rams place at home meet
The S&S Lady Ram track team finished fourth in their home meet last week while the Rams placed fifth in the team standings.
The Lady Rams totaled 93 points, just behind Saint Jo’s 95.
The S&S 1,600 relay of Lillian Vickery, Emily Bullard, Izabelle Talamantes and Dandree Meeks took gold with a time of 4:34.
The 800 relay of Bullard, Trinity Vidrine, Talamantes and Meeks was third in 1:57.9. Meeks also took second in the triple jump at 32 feet, six- and three-quarter inches while Bullard tied for fourth at 31 feet, five and a half inches.
Vidrine was third in the long jump at 15 feet, two inches while Meeks was fourth at 15 feet. Tabitha Jordan was third in the 100 with a time of 13.8 seconds. Addyson Russell was fifth in 14.2 seconds. Jordan was third in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, six inches. Talamantes was third in the 200 with a time of 29.2 seconds. Kenzi Perry took third in the 800 with a time of 2:48.9.
The 400 relay of Lana Walters, Lillian Vickery, Russell and Jordan was fourth in 56.4 seconds. Meeks finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:10.6. Rylee Garrison was fifth in the discus with a throw of 69 feet, 11 inches.
On the boys’ side, S&S was fifth with 68 points, just behind Slidell’s 69.
S&S had the top two finishes in the 800. Brandon Petty won in 2:15 while Parker Bigham was the runner-up in 2:16.8.
The 800 relay of Elisha Gentry, Petty, Jayden Vega and Hunter Courville took second with 1:36.8.
The 400 relay of Gentry, Joe Orr, Jayden Vega and Courville was fourth in 46.8 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Hunter Bigham, Parker Bigham, Vega and Petty was the runner-up in 3:47.7.
Vega also tied for third in the long jump at 19 feet, one inch while Gentry was fifth at 18 feet, 10 inches. Gentry also tied for fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.2 seconds.
Hunter Bigham was third in the triple jump at 32 feet, 11 inches.
Bearcats open tourney up over Ardmore
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team opened their home tournament Thursday, March 6 with a 1-0 win over Ardmore.
Tracy Brees and Brayden Bomar combined on a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks. Brees also singled and walked twice.
Dax Martin went 3-for-4. Korbin Ross singled and walked.
The win took Whitesboro to 2-6 on the year.
Pirates up, down in Ponder tourney
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team dropped a 14-2 loss last week against Sanger in the Ponder Tournament.
Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3. Cash Morgan doubled, drove in a run and scored once. Brandon Cantu doubled and scored once. Jaxon Jenkins walked and drove in a run.
The loss took Collinsville to 6-3 on the year.
The Pirates opened the tournament with a 13-3 win in six innings over Bridgeport. Caysen Schafer went 2-for-4, scored four times and earned the win.
Peyton Davidson went 2-for-4 with a triple, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Jenkins went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. Paxton Davidson singled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored three times. Garrett Trevino singled, drove in a run and scored once. Noe Cantu walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Collinsville hosted Trenton in district play on Friday.
S&S slides to Archer City
The S&S Ram baseball team fell 14-5 in five innings last week to Archer City in the Nocona Tournament.
Brody Colwell went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once. Rylan McSpedden doubled and scored once. Eli Nortman singled and scored once. Major Milam singled and walked once.
Nik Roseberry and Zade Zellers each walked and scored once.
The loss took S&S to 3-2 on the year.
Tioga tops Petrolia
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team picked up a big 16-4 win in four innings over Petrolia last week on the road.
Austin Norwood went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and scored twice. Landon Bingham went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Gage Anderson went 2-for-3 with a triple, walked, drove in two and scored three times. Johnny Dorpinghaus went 2-for-2, walked and scored three times. Jaxton Dejernett and Luke Roberts each singled, drove in a run and scored once.
The win took Tioga to 5-3 on the year. They hosted Tom Bean Friday in district play.
Pirates open district with a win
The defending State Champion Collinsville Pirate baseball team opened their 2025 district schedule with a 6-2 win over Tom Bean Tuesday, March 4 on the road.
Jaxon Jenkins went 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice. Paxton Davidson tripled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Garrett Trevino did not allow an earned run on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in five -and-a-third innings. Cash Morgan went 2-for-3. Caysen Schafer and Jaxon Spivey both had RBI singles. Brandon Cantu was hit by a pitch twice and scored once.
The win took Collinsville to to 5-2 on the year and 1-0 in district. They hosted Trenton on Friday.
The Pirates are the reigning state champs, but this year’s line-up is much different than last year. Last year’s team graduated six starters.
Lady Cats open district with loss to Boyd
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team lost 5-3 to Boyd on Tuesday, March 4 in district play.
Avery Howerton singled, walked and drove in a run. Bradi Gallaway, Breighlin Rupert and Makayla Wolfe all walked and scored once.
The loss took Whitesboro to 7-7 on the year and 0-1 in district. They had won 41 of 42 district games the previous three seasons.
The Lady Bearcats hosted Callisburg on Friday.

Sophia Woody went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. Jaydee Matlock went 3-for-5 and scored twice. Charlie Spratt went 2-for-4 and scored twice. Hailey Germany went 2-for-5 with a double, drove in a run and scored once. Reece Elvington went 2-for-3 and walked twice.
The loss took Collinsville to 2-9 on the year and 1-2 in district. They hosted Trenton on Friday.
