On Friday, Feb. 28, the Collinsville Lady Pirates fell to the Tioga Lady Bulldogs with a final score of 12-2.

Cats beat Vernon, lose to Bowie
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team topped Vernon 5-2 Friday in the Bowie-Henrietta Tournament. 

Camden Stephens went 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Rhet Rudzinski went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once.  Jacob Knight singled, walked, drove in two and scored twice. Andrew Quick singled and scored once. Brayden Bomar did not allow an earned run on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks. 

The Bearcats also suffered a 1-0 loss against Bowie in tournament play. 

Tracy Brees threw six scoreless innings, allowing three hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks. Brayden Bomar, Jacob Knight and Rhet Rudzinski singled.

Bulldogs come up big in Era Tourney
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team topped St. Jo 17-8 over the weekend in the Era Tournament. 

Gage Anderson went 3-for-3, walked once, drove in five and scored twice. Slade Babbitt went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, five RBIs and scored twice. Austin Norwood tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. Johnny Dorpinghaus walked three times and scored three times. Julian Hernandez walked, drove in two runs and scored once. 

The Bulldogs also had a 16-7 win over Muenster Sacred Heart in three innings in tournament play. 

Anderson homered, walked twice, drove in three runs and scored three times. Hernandez tripled, walked, drove in three and scored twice. Dorpinghaus singled and drove in two. Landon Bingham walked three times and scored three times. Sam Mott walked twice and scored twice.

Rams rout VV
The S&S Ram Baseball team topped Valley View 13-8 Friday in non-district play. 

Eli Nortman went 3-for-4 with a triple, drove in a run and scored three times. Brightin McNabb went 3-for-4 with a double, walked, drove in two and scored. Zade Zellers was 2-for-5 with two doubles. Nik Roseberry and Joe Orr each singled, walked twice and scored twice. Major Milam walked three times and scored three times. Michael Walbom singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.

Lady Cats 1-1 Friday in Denton Tourney
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team fell to Sanger 4-2 over the weekend in the Denton Tournament. 

Avery Howerton went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Jenna Cole singled and scored once. The Lady Bearcats also had a 9-4 win over Denton Braswell.  Bradi Gallaway went 3-for-3 with two home runs and a double, three RBIs and scored three times. Cole went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored. Howerton homered and drove in two runs.
Tylar Olsen walked and scored three times. Makayla Wolf singled and drove in a run.

Whitesboro was 7-4 on the year when they closed out the tournament on Saturday.

Lady Cats clip The Colony
The Whitesboro Lady Cat softball team opened the Denton Tournament Thursday with a 6-1 win over The Colony in five innings. 

Avery Howerton, Lauren Muntz and Jenna Cole combined on a two-hitter with four strikeouts and four walks. Cam Ortiz went 3-for-3 and scored once. Bradi Gallaway singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Reagan Downs singled, drove in a run and scored once.  Emma Parish walked twice, drove in a run and scored once. Makayla Wolf singled, walked and scored once.

The win took Whitesboro to 6-3 on the year. They carried on with tourney action on Friday.

Lady Pirates up and down in tourney play 
The Collinsville Lady Pirates softball team opened the Bells-Bonham Tournament on Thursday with a 16-0 loss in three innings. 

Jaydee Matlock singled and Tessa Vannoy walked. 

The Pirates then picked up a 9-5 win over Pottsboro in tournament play. 

Vannoy went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored once against the Lady Cardinals. Sophia Woody singled, walked and drove in two runs. Jaydee Matlock singled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice. Reece Elvington walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice. Charlie Spratt walked twice and scored once.  Bailey Miller singled, drove in a run and scored once.

The loss took Collinsville to 2-4 on the year.

They opened district play at Tioga on Friday.

The Lady Pirates also had an 11-0 loss in four innings against Farmersville in tourney play.

Lady Bulldogs beat by Celeste
The Tioga Lady Bulldogs suffered a 20-0 shutout loss to Celeste Thursday in the Blue Ridge Tournament. 

Kennedy Slay singled and Veronica Colmonares had a hit. The Lady Bulldogs started with a 4-3 win in four innings over Blue Ridge. Bella Dennis went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored once. Ella Norwood went 2-for-2 and scored once. Slay singled and drove in a run.

The loss took Tioga to 4-4 on the year.  

They hosted Collinsville in District 11-2A action on Friday.

Lady Bulldogs pound Collinsville 
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team picked up a big 12-2 district win Friday over the visiting Collinsville Lady Pirates. 

Bella Dennis went 3-for-3 with a triple, walked, drove in two and scored twice for Tioga. Abbie Benke allowed two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks and also doubled, walked twice and drove in three. Ella Norwood went 2-for-3 with a triple, drove in a run and scored once. Emerson Moore went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice. Kennedy Slay went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Kenzie Powers went 2-for-3, walked and scored once. Kyndall Whitley went 2-for-4 with a triple, drove in a run and scored once. 

The win took Tioga to 5-4 on the year. 

They played in the Blue Ridge Tournament on Saturday.

Rilee Stewart doubled and drove in two runs for Collinsville. Tessa Vannoy and Hailey Germany each singled and scored once for Collinsville.

The loss took Collinsville to 2-5 on the year.

Local tracksters do well in W’boro meet 
The Van Alstyne boys and the Gunter girls took the team titles last week at the Whitesboro track meet where local teams placed well within the individual standings. 

S&S’ Elisha Gentry took second in the 100-meter dash at 11.69 seconds. 

Whitesboro took the titles in the hurdles. 

Jack Hinsley won the 110 race in 17.58 seconds. Wyatt Winchester won the 300 event in 41.13 seconds. Hinsley was fourth in the 300 at 45.40 seconds.

On the girls side, Gunter won with 114 points while Pottsboro was second with 83 and Van Alstyne was third with 76, one point ahead of Pilot Point. 

Whitesboro rounded out the top five with 70 points.

Whitesboro’s Brylee Weddle won the 400 in 1:01.70. Teammate Aubrey Beam was the runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:31.40. Beam was also third in the 1,600. Whitesboro’s Alexis Barrios finished fourth in 19.53 seconds. Whitesboro’s Shelby Riddle, Beam, Izzy Gabbert and Weddle was the runner-up in the 1600-meter relay with 4:16.92. 

S&S’ Tabitha Jordan won the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, five inches. 

Whitesboro’s La’Ney Powell was third at 27 feet, 10 inches.

Whitesboro’s Ashlynn Warren finished third in the long jump at 15 feet, seven and a half inches.

Rams beat Bland
The S&S Ram baseball team topped Bland 6-5 on Tuesday, Feb. 25 on the road. 

Zade Zellers went 2-for-3 and scored once. Michael Walbom walked three times, drove in a run and scored once. Eli Nortman walked once and scored three times. Major Milam doubled and scored once. Ruffin Brubaker walked twice and drove in a run.

The win took S&S to 2-0. They played at Valley View on Friday night.

Tioga edges Era
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team beat Era 2-1 on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at home. 

Luke Sheppard threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks. Gage Anderson and Johnny Dorpinghaus each singled and scored once. Landon Bingham singled and drove in a run.

The win took Tioga to 2-1 on the year.  

They entered the Era Tournament on Thursday.

Lady Rams rout Bonham 
The S&S Lady Ram softball team shutout Bonham 9-0 on Tuesday, Feb. 25 on the road. 

Hayden Mowrey threw a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts and a walk. She also went 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Tynslie Adcock went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored twice. Hannah Foster went 2-for-3 with a triple, walked once, drove in a run and scored once. Denley Blankenship went 2-for-3, walked once and scored once.  Bri Fowler tripled, drove in two runs and scored twice. Lily Nunn doubled, drove in a run and scored once.

The win took S&S to 6-0 on the year.  

They entered District 11-3A play at Leonard on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Cats drop to Royse City
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team fell to Royse City 12-5 Tuesday, Feb. 25 in five innings.

Bradi Gallaway went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Cam Ortiz went 2-for-2. Breighlin Rupert scored once.

The loss took Whitesboro to 5-3 on the year.

They entered the Denton Tournament on Thursday.

Lady Pirates stop Dodd City
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball opened district last week with a bang in a 13-0 shutout of Doddy City in five innings. 

Rilee Stewart went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and scored once. Reece Elvington threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks. Hailey Germany went 2-for-2 with a double, walked, drove in a run and scored three times. Tessa Vannoy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice. Sophia Woody doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. Zoey Kays singled, walked and scored once.  Jaydee Matlock singled and scored once.

The win took Collinsville to 1-2 on the year.

They opened play in the Bells-Bonham Tournament on Thursday.

Lady Bulldogs tame Trenton
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team opened district play last week with a 15-3 win over Trenton on the road. 

Bella Dennis went 2-for-3 with a double and scored once. Kenzie Powers singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Kyndall Whitley walked and scored once. 

The win took Tioga to 3-3 on the year.
