The GFWC History Club of Whitesboro held its annual Spring Social and Fashion Show last Sunday at Ranch 82 in Whitesboro.

The afternoon began with tea and lemonade and a buffet of hors d’oeuvres. GFWC History Club President Donna Parkinson gave a welcome and Whitesboro High School junior Zander Brannan sang an a cappella version of the National Anthem.

History Club member Lilly White gave the benediction.

After everyone had enjoyed their food and social time, the fashion show began.

Six area boutiques participated with local high school students and residents of all ages modeling the shops’ spring clothing line.

Tangled Cotton Boutique, owned by Amanda Harper, featured beautiful spring apparel for children and infants, as well as trendy women’s clothes.

Sunny Paige, owned by Mandy Sanders, showcased floral dresses, pastel colors and bow details.

Lovejoys On Main, owned by Hank Lovejoy, showed cotton dresses, cork wedge sandals and pastels for spring.

Cosmic Hippie, owned by Jennifer Irvin, featured denim items, puffy-sleeved blouses and sneakers and booties for spring.

Bunkhouse Boutique, owned by Judy Tyler in Sadler, highlighted flowing tops and dresses, neutral and pastel color palettes and beautiful spring hats.

The Leopard Antler Boutique, owned by Amber Young, featured 10 models (five women and five men). Women’s fashion ranged from denim one-piece jumpers to soft cotton blouses, while the men wore Burlebo’s new spring line of shorts and patterned polos. Models also showcased various accessories like totes, bags and shoes.

Throughout the afternoon, door prizes were given away in an ongoing drawing.

A raffle for a Consuela handbag and makeup bag from The Leopard Antler Boutique (valued at over $200) resulted in a win for Patricia Davis, who was also celebrating her birthday.
Live potted plants, which were available for purchase, served as centerpieces at each table.

All funds raised at this event help to provide scholarships for graduating Whitesboro High School seniors.

DJ Jess provided background music throughout the event and Whyte Line Photography captured memories of the afternoon.

“This event gets better every year,” History Club member Ann Paty said. “First we added a stage. This year we added DJ Jess. Next year we’re adding a silent auction. It’s fun to see how the event is growing and finding new ways to support our kids. Because that’s what this is all about, supporting the kids.”

This year’s event was made possible in part by title sponsor Trinity Title of Texas and the following businesses:
Whyte Line Photography, Atlantic Trust, Legend Bank, Iron Soldiers Coffee, Veterans Association of Whitesboro, Happy Dave, Paty Meat Co., Hometown Pharmacy, Wood Insurance, Skreen Door Printing, Public Image Hair Design, 56 Deli, Gia’s Goodies and Kim Kenney at Ranch 82.
