Lady Cats end tourney strong
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team kept on their hot streak Saturday with a 5-2 victory in five innings over Frisco in the Denton Tournament.
Bradi Gallaway went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and scored twice. Reagan Downs singled, drove in a run and scored once. Makayla Wolf walked and scored once. Tylar Olsen drove in a run for the Lady Bearcats.
Whitesboro started Saturday with a 6-2 win in four innings against Carthage.
Gallaway went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Avery Howerton went 2-for-3 with a home run. She also allowed an earned run on five hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Wolf went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and scored once. Cam Ortiz went 2-for-2 and scored once.
The wins took Whitesboro to 5-2 on the year. They played at Royse City on Tuesday.
Lady Bulldogs win two
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team landed two big wins Saturday when they topped Graford and Alvord— both at home— in non-district play.
Kyndall Whitley went 3-for-3 with three RBIs in their 11-1 win over Alvord. Bella Dennis went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice. Kaylee Evans singled and scored once. Kenzie Powers walked twice and scored twice. Aly Salinas walked twice and scored once. Kennedy Slay walked and scored twice.
The Lady Bulldogs also landed a 13-9 win over Alvord.
Powers went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored once. Whitley went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and scored twice. Dennis went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Veronica Colmonares went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice. Ella Norwood singled, walked twice and scored three times. Slay singled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Zoey Hodge singled, drove in two and scored.
The wins took Tioga to 3-2 on the year. They opened district play Tuesday at Trenton. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Pirates fall to Pilot Point
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team dropped a double header Saturday to Pilot Point on the road.
Bailey Miller went 2-for-2 with a double. Hailey Germany doubled and drove in the sole Pirate run. Jaydee Matlock singled and scored. Zoey Kays walked twice for Collinsville.
The Lady Pirates opened the double header with an 11-5 loss in five innings.
Tessa Vannoy went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice in game one. Matlock went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice. Reece Elvington doubled, drove in a run and scored once.
Germany singled and drove in a run. Sophia Woody singled and walked.
The season opening losses took Collinsville 0-2 on the year. Collinsville hosted Dodd City on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Bearcats swept by Bells
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team got swept Saturday in a road double header against Bells. They ended the day with an 11-9 loss to the Panthers.
Rhet Rudzinski went 2-for-3, walked twice, drove in a run and scored three times. Korbin Ross singled, walked and drove in three runs. Tracy Brees singled, walked three times and scored once. Camden Stephens walked four times and drove in a run. Brayden Bomar singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Cason Vessels singled and scored twice for Whitesboro.
In the opener, Troy Randall went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Bomar singled, walked and scored once. Camden Stephens singled and drove in a run. Brees allowed a run on one hit with five strikeouts and a walk in five innings.
The losses took Whitesboro to 0-2 on the year. They played at Howe on Monday. Results were not available as of press time.
Bulldogs rout Lindsay
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team picked up a 12-0 win Saturday over Lindsay on the road in five innings.
Slade Babbitt went 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored. He also threw four innings, allowing five hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Landon Bingham went 2-for-3 with a home run, walked, drove in four and scored twice. Gage Anderson went 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored three times. Austin Norwood went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored once. Sam Mott doubled, drove in a run and scored. Hayden Roberts walked twice and scored twice.
The win took Tioga to 1-1 on the year. They hosted Era on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Bearcat ballers end run
The Whitesboro Bearcat varsity basketball team ended its playoff run Friday night with a 58-46 loss to Pottsboro in a Class 3A Division I Region II area round.
Jacob Knight led the Whitesboro effort with 16 points. Jack Hinsley had 10 points. Max Hinsley offered nine points. Brayden Bomar had eight points.
Whitesboro ended its season 26-10.
