NEW MINI COMPUTER LAB FOR COLLINSVILLE AG SCIENCE CLASSES
Collinsville ISD recently installed a new mini computer lab which includes five computer workstations with mammoth 21 inch computer monitors in the Agricultural Sciences Building.
The facility has also been connected to the Collinsville ISD network to allow students to make use of the Internet and other school resources.
Ag teacher Gary Schnitker will be utilizing these new systems to help teach students AutoCAD to help them design and construct projects for fabrication classes.
AutoCAD is short for automatic computer aided drafting and design. Students will be able to design projects on the computer and see real time models.

LOCAL TEACHERS ATTEND AUSTIN TCTA CONVENTION
Whitesboro ISD teachers Rebecca Denton, Su Barker and Charlotte Terry were among more than 600 Texas educators who attended the 1995 Convention of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association, held February 10-11, at the Austin Stouffer Hotel.
They are members of the Whitesboro Classroom Teachers Association, a local TCTA affiliate.
In addition to other awards presented at the conference, TCTA recognized Whitesboro Independent School District volunteer Ray Baldwin.

FILING OPEN FOR AREA ELECTIONS
With less than two weeks remaining to meet the March 6 filing deadline for the April 6 election, candidates are filing for both council and school boards in Whitesboro, Collinsville, Sadler and Southmayd.
The City of Whitesboro is seeking to elect a mayor and two aldermen following the two-year expiration term of Mayor Charles Winchester, and the expiration of two-year terms of two aldermen J.T. “Clem” Clements and Joe West.
Additionally, a special election will be held April 6 in conjunction with the regular election to fill a one-year unexpired term following the resignation of councilman Rusty Renfroe who will be moving outside city limits.

WHS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
Whitesboro Bearcats are winners of the District basketball championship, cinching the title by defeating Fannindel here Tuesday night by a score of 55 to 52.
The Bearcats dropped the first half lead, but roared back in grand style to win by the three-point margin.
The Cats dropped their only loss to Fannindel in the first half of the year, but they came back to beat the Falcons in the second half.
