W’boro Athletic Booster Club seeks sponsors for Casino Night fundraiser

W’boro Athletic Booster Club seeks sponsors for Casino Night fundraiser

On Saturday, March 29, the Whitesboro Athletic Booster Club will hold its first-ever Speakeasy Casino Night fundraiser. The event will take place from 5-10 p.m. at Ranch 82 in Whitesboro.

Tickets to this 1920s-themed event are $75 and include a BBQ dinner, alcohol and gambling chips. Proceeds from the event will go directly to the booster club to help them support local student athletes.

When Whitesboro High School football mom Tressa Lea learned club president Rusty Williams wanted the organization to hold a fundraiser, she immediately wanted to offer her services. Lea has years of experience in event planning and coordination, so she was happy to volunteer to benefit the club (and, ultimately, the student athletes).

Williams and Lea are working with Jamie Welles, Cody Ramsey and Keri Downs to create a memorable and lucrative fundraiser for the club.

Historically, the booster club has raised money through Golden Sponsorships, banners with business logos posted at the stadium and fields. Students have also sold items to help raise funds. This year, the group wanted to do something different.

“The Casino Night is a great way to get more community members involved. We can throw a fun party while making money for the booster club – it’s a win-win,” Lea said.

The evening will include an opportunity for guests to peruse and bid on a variety of silent auction items, which are being donated by local organizations and individuals. A DJ will provide music throughout the event, setting the tone for this fun party.

Guests will be given gambling chips to play various casino-style games, like Craps, Blackjack and Roulette. A live auction will include items like a signed basketball from the guys at Dude Perfect, a guided fishing trip and baskets from local shops like Leopard Antler Boutique.

There will also be a costume contest for those who want to dress the part.

“We’re asking event attendees to dress in Roaring 20’s-style clothing to play into the theme of the evening,” Lea said. “It’s going to be a blast!”

To make the Speakeasy Casino Night a success, the booster club is seeking high-level sponsors and item/basket donations for the silent and live auction.

Tickets to the event can be purchased online or from any club member. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, raffle donations or ticket sales, contact [email protected]
