Filing for city councils, school boards closes at 5 p.m. today

Today, Friday, Feb. 14 is the last day for interested parties to file for area city council and school board positions. Application packets must be submitted by 5 p.m.

Filing has been open since Jan. 15.

The Whitesboro City Council has four seats open. The mayor and two two-year alderman seats as well as one one-year alderman seat are up for election.

As of press time, incumbents Su Welch and Carla Woolsey have filed for a two-year seat and incumbent John Moore has filed for the one-year seat.

Eddie Wood has filed for the mayor seat.

The Whitesboro school board has two three-year seats to fill. As of press time, incumbents Shannon Blake and Michael Parish have filed to keep their seats. 

Eddie Wood has filed as a challenger.

The Collinsville City Council has three seats available: the mayor and two two-year alderman seats.

As of press time, the only person to file is Chase Guidera for mayor.

The Collinsville school board has a Place 6 seat and Place 7 seat available. As of press time, Ronnie O’ Neal Sr. has filed for Place 6 and incumbent Bailey Lahr has filed for Place 7.

The S&S school board has a Place 2 and Place 7 seat available. As of press time, incumbent Brad Colwell has filed for Place 2.

Early voting will be from Tuesday, April 22 to Tuesday, April 29. Election day is Saturday, May 3.
