One week remains for interested citizens to file for local city council and school board seats. Filing began Jan. 15 and will end Feb. 14.
The Whitesboro City Council has four seats open for election: the mayor, two two-year alderman seats and one one-year alderman seat.
As of press time, incumbents Su Welch and Carla Woolsey have each submitted their name for a two-year seat. Alderman John Moore has submitted his name for the one-year seat.
The Whitesboro Independent School District’s board of trustees has two seats to fill, each one a three-year term. As of press time, incumbents Shannon Blake and Michael Parish have filed to keep their seats.
The Collinsville City Council has three seats available: the mayor and two alderman seats.
As of press time, no one has picked up an application.
The Collinsville Independent School District’s board of trustees has two three-year seats, Place 6 and Place 7, up for election. As of press time, Ronnie O’Neal Sr. has filed for Place 6.
The S&S Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has two seats available, Place 2 and Place 7. As of press time, no one had filed to run.
Early voting will be from Tuesday, April 22 to Tuesday, April 29. Election day will be May 3.
Anyone interested in filing an application should contact their city hall or school board by Feb. 14.
