Local lifters place at S&S
S&S Ram lifters finished seventh, with 11 points, in their home S&S Ram invitational powerlifting meet over the weekend.
Elisha Gentry led the Ram effort with a win at 123 pounds with a total of 810 pounds. Brandon Petty placed third with 750 pounds. Brek Hammet finished fifth with 360 pounds. Peyton Turner was 11th at 181 pounds with a total of 905 pounds. Hunter Bigham was 13th at 165 pounds with a total of 855 pounds. Collinsville’s Timothy Grindstaff took eighth place at 148 pounds with a total of 905 pounds.
On the girls' side, Collinsville took ninth with six points on a tie-breaker with Leonard.
Collinsville was led by Bailey Miller’s third-place finish at 123 pounds with a total of 615 pounds. Allison Hardwick also had a third-place finish at 132 pounds with a total of 655 pounds. Emery Bostick was 19th at 165 pounds with a total of 495 pounds.
S&S was led by Khloe Hatch’s eighth-place finish at 148 pounds with a total of 625 pounds. Neveah Lawerance was 18th with 495 pounds. Cassie Beauchamp was 20th with 460 pounds. Taylor Fischer was eighth at 165 pounds with a total of 680 pounds. MaKenzie Williams was 20th with 475 pounds. Layla Khammash was eighth at 220 pounds with a total of 665 pounds. Amilya Verdugo was 11th at 123 pounds with a total of 490 pounds.
Tioga’s Timber Johnson was 11th at 114 pounds with a total of 390 pounds.
Bearcats beat Pilot Point
The Whitesboro Bearcat varsity basketball team topped Pilot Point 59-51 Friday night on the road in district action. The win took Whitesboro to 22-8 on the year and 6-2 in district.
They hosted Boyd on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Tioga toppled by Muenster
The Tioga Bulldog varsity basketball team fell to Muenster 48-13 Friday night at home. The loss took Tioga to 9-14 on the year and 3-6 in district play. They traveled to Collinsville on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Collinsville loses to Lindsay
The Collinsville Pirate varsity basketball team lost 73-55 to Lindsay Friday on the road in district play. Collinsville fell to 3-14 on the year and 1-8 in district play. They hosted Tioga on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Rams drop to Pottsboro
The S&S Ram varsity basketball team fell to Pottsboro 77-42 Friday night on the road in district play.
Joe Orr led the Ram effort with 17 points. Brenden Hammer had eight points. T.J. Johnson had seven points and seven rebounds. Adam Mutz landed six rebounds.
The Rams remain winless in district and traveled to Gunter on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Cats pound Pilot Point
The Whitesboro Lady Cat varsity basketball team held onto their fourth-place district seed with a 50-21 road win over Pilot Point Friday night.
They clinched a playoff spot and advanced 5-5 in district. They hosted Boyd on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Pirates best Lindsay
The Collinsville Lady Pirates varsity basketball team is a three-way tie for second place in district after a 63-54 road win over Lindsay on Friday night.
They are now 8-3 in district and tied with Lindsay and Slidell in the standings.
Collinsville hosted Tioga Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Tioga ladies lose to Muenster
The Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball team lost to first-place Muenster 49-20 at home in district action.
Tioga fell to 6-16 overall and 2-9 in district.

Lady Rams struggle against Pottsboro
The S&S Lady Ram varsity basketball team fell to Pottsboro 72-37 Friday night on the road in district play.
Keelie Jordan led the Ram effort with eight points. Sela Winborne had seven points. Dandree Meeks, Bri Fowler and Rylee Garrison each had six points.
Bearcats edged by Ponder
The Whitesboro Bearcat varsity basketball team dropped a close one Jan. 21 with a 54-52 final at home against Ponder.
Jack Hinsley led the effort with 21 points and seven rebounds. Max Hinsley was close behind with 16 points and five rebounds. Jacob Knight had nine points, three assists and three steals.
The loss took Whitesboro to 21-8 on the year and 5-2 in district. They traveled to Pilot Point on Friday night.

The Tioga Bulldog varsity basketball team landed a 67-47 district win Jan. 21 over Era on the road. The loss took Tioga to 9-13 and 3-5 in district. They hosted Muenster on Friday.

The Collinsville Pirate varsity basketball team lost to Slidell 76-61 Jan. 21 on the road in district play. The loss took Collinsville to 3-13 on the year and 1-7 in district. They traveled to Lindsay Friday night.

The S&S Rams powerlifting team tied for 24th place recently in the Princeton Invitational.
