Moment with the Minister

The loss of identity
Moment with the Minister

I’m a follower of Jesus Christ.

I read the Bible and have read it cover to cover numerous times.

I read it because it is where I get my direction for life. It really is that simple.

The instance of humankind losing its identity is found within the first few chapters of the Bible. Man was created in the image of God.

Then, man was deceived into believing that he wasn’t made in the image of God.

The serpent simply offered him something that he already had.

The serpent made him doubt who he was, which was one who reflected the full image of God.

Fast forward to 2025.

Why do so many seemingly find their identity in politicians?

The answer is simple. They still don’t know who they are.

The blind loyalty to men in politics is evidence that they don’t know who they are; thus, they pledge total loyalty to politicians.

They have given up believing that their identity is God Himself.

When asked about the failings of their favorite politicians, you will notice that their eyes gloss over.

Talk to a person who finds their identity in conservative politics and ask them about the soapbox they were on just a few years ago regarding election fraud.

They will stare at you as if they don’t know what you’re talking about.

Ask them about other issues like a wall on our southern border and who paid for it and they will grow deafly silent.

On the other side of our politics, we have people who want us to believe that it’s normal to not know whether you are a male or female and that you can choose to be one or the other just like they’re picking out a new winter coat.

Obviously, they don’t know their own identity and have lost their way.

The Bible states that we were created in the image of God. For those of us who are believers and followers of Jesus, we need to explore our own identity in Christ.

‘Who’ we are is already established. ‘We are NOW the children of God.’

Paul said, “Those who have joined themselves with the Lord are one in spirit with him.”

To ‘seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness’ results in the discovery that we are created in His image and as new creations, we are made over in His image.

This is our identity.

There are few talking about this in 2025.

Most have joined the cults of their political favorites— Right, Left, Democrat, Republican, Conversative Progressive— whatever.

We need to affirm and at least convince ourselves who we are. Then, we won’t need to shirk questions about the failings, lies, deceit or what have you of our chosen political saviors.

We will know who we are and we will live, move, and have our being in that identity.

That identity is Christ.
