After eight years, Whitesboro Public Library Head Director Lara Blair has retired. Former librarian Jessca McNeely will move into the role.
The library has had the honor of being filled with Blair’s puppet expertise; bright, inviting decorations; and no shortness of sugar and singing. Blair has spent countless hours reading and acting out beloved stories for the young audiences of story time; not to mention booking entertainers who never fail to bring new experiences and life to the library throughout the summer reading program.
Blair is cherished by her community, from the tiniest babies who lit up with her smile throughout her six years as Children’s Librarian, to the parents also holding her in high regard, appreciating her warm, nurturing spirit during her two years as Head Director.
Blair’s ability to connect with individuals of all ages can make anyone feel special. She never fails to brighten up the building as soon as she enters the library doors, and keeps the party alive until the day is done.
Blair’s last day was Dec. 17, 2024.
“Although she has moved onto the next chapter of her life, there is no doubt that Lara made such a lasting impact and will truly be missed,” McNeely said.
As the library’s new Head Director, McNeely has done incredible work for the Whitesboro Public Library over the last three years and brings 20 years of experience to the role.
“All of us at the library wish Lara happiness and health in all that she does,” McNeely said.
