Pick ‘Em Pool in the books
With the end of the high school football season, comes the final results in the News-Record Pick ‘Em Pool.

After 180 games and 15 weeks, it is clear that News-Record publisher Austin Lewter and local realtor Colby Meals should stick to their professions and stay away from gridiron picks (more on their numbers later). 

Collinsville ISD superintendent, and former football coach, Matt Davenport was the clear Pick ‘Em Champ. 

He ended the year with a record of 144-36. Tom Worsham was close behind with a record of 135-45 and Muenster Enterprise editor Steve Snyder came in third place with a record of 124-56. 

Whitesboro ISD teacher Matthew Summerall came in fourth place with a total of 122-58. 

Lewter and Meals tied at 119-61 for fifth and sixth place.

Bearcats beat Bells 
Coming off a Tournament Championship in Jacksboro, the Whitesboro Bearcat basketball team landed a 56-48 win Monday night over the visiting Bells Panthers.

Max Hinsley led the attack with 18 points. Jack Hinsley was close behind with 17 points. Brayden Bomar had eight points. Jacob Knight had six points.

The win took Whitesboro to 12-5. They open district play tonight at Ponder.

Bearcats win Jacksboro Tournament 
The Whitesboro Bearcat basketball team won a second straight tournament title in two weeks with a Championship run in the Jacksboro Tournament over the week. 

They sealed the deal with a 53-37 win over Perrin-Whitt. 

Jack Hinsley led the WHS attack in that affair with 20 points. Max Hinsley had 10 points and five assists. Jacob Knight had 10 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Dax Martin had six points.

The win took Whitesboro to 12-5 on the year. 

Jack Hinsley and Martin were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Bearcats got to the title game with a 49-37 win against Clyde. 

Jack Hinsley had 13 points and six rebounds in that bout. Max Hinsley had 11 points and five rebounds. Ezra Melton had eight points and seven rebounds. Knight had eight points, seven rebounds and five steals. Martin had six points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Cats opened the tournament with a 63-60 win over Jacksboro and a 61-59 loss to Perrin-Whitt in pool play.

They hosted Bells Monday night.

Rams winless in Jacksboro Tourney
The S&S Ram basketball team closed out the Jacksboro Tournament Friday with an 88-27 loss to the hosting team. 

Brightin McNabb led the Ram effort with eight points. Brenden Hammer had seven points. Joe Orr offered four points for S&S.

The loss took the Rams to 1-13 on the year.

In earlier tourney action, the Rams lost 75-28 to Clyde.

Orr had 10 points and four assists in that affair. Hammer had seven points and six steals. Caden Daniel had five points against Clyde. 

The Rams also suffered a 72-55 loss against Archer City. 

Hammer scored 24 points there. Adam Mutz had 10 points. McNabb chipped in nine points.

The Rams looked to bounce back Tuesday night at home against Jacksboro. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Bulldogs beat Alvord
The Tioga Lady Bulldog basketball opened district play Tuesday, Dec. 10 at home with a 55-21 win over Alvord.

The win took Tioga to 4-7 on the year. They traveled to Chico Friday night.

Lady Pirates top Era 
The Collinsville Lady Pirate basketball team opened district play Tuesday, Dec. 10 with a 55-32 win over Era.

They traveled to Muenster Friday night.

Lady Rams lose to St. Jo
The S&S Lady Ram basketball team lost to Saint Jo 46-21 Tuesday, Dec. 10 on the road. 

Maleeya Stanford led the Lady Ram effort with seven points. Sela Winborn had four points.

The loss took the Lady Rams to 4-11 on the year. They started district 11-3A play at home Friday against Bells.

Rams fall to Bridgeport 
The S&S Ram basketball team dropped a 63-28 home game to Bridgeport on Tuesday, Dec. 10. 

Brenden Hammer led the Ram effort with 11 points. Joe Orr was close behind with 10 points.

The loss took the Rams to 1-10 going into the Jacksboro Tournament over the weekend.
